As a child I was very inclined and attracted to the artistic side of life. My earliest memory was at the age of 10, when I used to advise my mom how to decorate certain parts of the house, from color palettes to design and set up. I recall as a child I always had to have a pen and paper in my hands and would be infatuated with fashion magazines and would trace the runway models on paper until I was able to do it myself. I recall wanting to always be involved in some type of artistic activity rather than playing with my peers. I used to spend most of my summers and winter holidays in the Romanian mountains, with my grandparents. They would grow flowers and agriculture, which sparked my interest with nature. Ever since, I was eager to learn about the different types and care of flowers. As the years passed, my artistic talents began to develop and I knew I was ready to pursue my passion in design. At the age of 18, I pursued my dream in fashion and design. During my college years, I would be offered to help with different type of events, set up and decor and make centerpieces. This has helped me develop my experience and a trained eye for the field of event design. This became part of my life and who I am today. My passion for floral design and creating spectacular themed events is what I live for.
A little about myself, I grew up in a quiet beach neighborhood in Solana Beach, California. As a child, my mother said that I had so much energy, that it was difficult for her to keep me busy. I loved to perform in my mother’s dresses and heels and I enjoyed helping my mother with her seamstress/floral design hobby which was her passion during her free time. My mother would make floral centerpieces for her Church and I really enjoyed assisting her with them. That experience gave me the opportunity to learn a few things about design and the floral business industry.
Soon after, as a young teenager, I lost touch with this side of me. I am not sure if it was because I was a “cool” teenager or just because my main focus had turned direction. I laugh at the huge irony of all of this because I remember telling my mother one day, “Oh my gosh mom, you are making flower arrangements again? So boring!”
Look at me now. Here I am, writing about my career and my life and how it has become event and floral designing. I would not change what I do for anything! This is my true passion and I love it!
